About UPS & Our Culture
The city is barely awake, but the UPS Sunrise Sort is already running at full velocity. Our early-morning sort window — typically 4:00 AM to 9:00 AM — processes the overflow volume from the overnight sort cycle, ensuring that every delivery package car is fully loaded and driver-ready before the morning rush begins. These unique early-morning UPS warehouse jobs are perfect for individuals who want to finish work while most people are still commuting, then enjoy a completely free afternoon. If you value schedule flexibility alongside genuine logistics careers, the Sunrise Sort is your optimal shift window.
What Our Team Says (Employee Reviews)
"I wake up at 3:30 AM, work an intense and satisfying four-hour sort, and I am done before 9:00 AM with a full afternoon ahead of me. The shift differential adds real money to the base hourly rate, the team is very focused and professional, and UPS's Earn & Learn program is funding my nursing prerequisites in the afternoons. This UPS warehouse job genuinely changed the trajectory of my life." - Current Sunrise Sort Associate, Nashville, TN.
Role Overview & Responsibilities
As a UPS Sunrise Sort Warehouse Associate, you process remaining overnight volume and final preload functions during the critical pre-departure window inside our package center, ensuring every driver can depart on time with a complete, accurate load.
- Overflow Sort Processing: Sort remaining overnight packages that exceeded the previous shift's sort capacity, accurately reading destination labels and routing parcels to the correct outbound lanes before the preload deadline.
- Final Car Checks: Walk assigned package cars before driver departure, verifying that all packages are scanned, load quality meets UPS standards, and no oversized or air packages are misloaded in ground positions.
- Air Package Priority Sweep: Conduct a final audit of the sort floor for any UPS Next Day Air or 2nd Day Air packages that did not clear the overnight sort, escalating any found air commits to the supervisor for immediate priority routing.
Benefits & Perks
Sunrise Sort Associates earn an early-morning shift differential on top of the Teamsters base hourly rate. Full union benefits — medical, dental, vision, and pension — apply from the first day of Teamsters eligibility. UPS Earn & Learn tuition assistance and paid personal time are included, making this one of the most schedule-friendly warehouse jobs in the market.
