About UPS & Our Culture
While most of the city powers down for the night, UPS powers up. The night sort is the highest-volume, highest-urgency shift in our entire package center operation — the window where the day's accumulated commercial and residential pickups are sorted and loaded onto linehaul trailers that must depart on hard schedules before dawn. If you are a night owl searching for UPS warehouse jobs that pair serious overnight pay differentials with the intensity of a world-class sort operation, our night sort shift is the most financially rewarding entry-level window in our entire logistics careers portfolio.
What Our Team Says (Employee Reviews)
"The night sort is not for people who want to ease into their shift — it is full speed from the moment the belt starts. But the overnight differential genuinely adds up to a paycheck that beats every comparable warehouse job in this area. I am home by 3 AM, my days are completely free, and the Earn & Learn program is funding my degree while I sleep. UPS night sort is the best-kept secret in the local job market." - Current Night Sort Warehouse Associate, Philadelphia, PA.
Role Overview & Responsibilities
As a UPS Night Sort Warehouse Associate, you process the facility's peak nightly commercial pickup volume during the late-night sort window, working at sustained high intensity to clear the sort floor before hard linehaul trailer departure deadlines inside our package center.
- High-Volume Commercial Sort Processing: Sort the dense volume of business pickup packages collected by UPS drivers throughout the afternoon, reading destination labels and routing every parcel accurately to its correct outbound trailer lane at peak belt speed.
- Linehaul Trailer Loading: Load completed outbound pallets and loose packages onto 53-foot linehaul trailers under hard departure window constraints, maximizing trailer cube while maintaining load quality standards that prevent damage during long-distance transport.
- Departure Deadline Compliance: Work with precise awareness of each trailer's hard departure time, prioritizing the loading sequence to ensure every linehaul trailer is sealed, documented, and released to the yard before its scheduled pull time.
Benefits & Perks
Night Sort Warehouse Associates earn a substantial overnight shift differential on top of the Teamsters base hourly wage — one of the highest total hourly rates available at the entry level across all warehouse jobs in the UPS network. Full Teamsters medical, dental, vision, pension, UPS Earn & Learn tuition funding, and paid personal time are included from day one of eligibility.
